St Paul's Cathedral

School Visits

Welcome to the Schools & Families Department!

We offer a great selection of guided, themed visits, workshops, and self-guided trails. St Paul's is a wonderful place and we want to ensure that you gain the absolute maximum from your visit.

Special Days/Activities for Parish children's/youth/'all age' family groups. Download this full colour flyer for more information and do get in touch with us to discuss further!

Our team of Schools Assistants and Volunteers offer professional cross-curricular learning experiences for all ages/all key stages.

New for 2011
This year, there are some exciting new visits including the re-vamped, action packed Victorian Experience (includes a Victorian style classroom with costumes, PLUS your cathedral tour is led by Florence Nightingale!)

Other visits Bible Alive! (A great way to get inside the special book), English Alive! (playing with words and great opportunities to write poetry back in school, plus the whole cathedral experience),  The BIG Science Trail (build an arch, learn about shape and design), Music & Monastic Life (sing plainsong and explore what goes on in the Quire), Shape Up! (Maths, shapes, patterns). Be a Pilgrim (an interactive trail led by a medieval pilgrim leader, lots of artefacts and make a pilgrim shell badge!),  Wonderful World (Science, materials to handle and discuss, a hands on visit, great for younger children)

For KS3-5 Business Studies we have debates and discussions on Big Issues, the Bible etc. that are ideal for GCSE Philosophy & Ethics/RS. We also offer challenging visits for this age range linked to the Christian Faith, meeting Clergy and the Bible.

We still have all the old favourites but these too have been enhanced! - The Blitz, WW2 (meet the Fire Watcher, Mr Pinner & his wife and watch a classmate become an evacuee!). London's Burning! (Great Fire of London - including new role plays and hats to wear), World of Worship ( covering all your learning objectives for visiting a Christian place of worship, vestments and vessels), Mosaics (including designing your own with real, glass tiles), and Christianity through Art and Design

Please ask for our KS1&2 and KS 3,4, &5 brochures for your staffroom or download a copy. Feel free to contact us for more information.

All our visits are adaptable for Special Educational Needs. S.E.N. Schools will receive a warm welcome here.

I look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful cathedral - do give us a call to discuss your particular requirements. Please remember to book early - we get very busy.
