Canon Lucy Winkett appointed Rector of West End Church St James's Piccadilly

The Bishop of London, Dr Richard Chartres, has appointed Canon Lucy Winkett as Rector of St James’s Piccadilly.
Lucy Winkett leaves her current post at St Paul’s Cathedral after nearly 13 years. She was appointed as Chaplain in 1997 before becoming the Canon Precentor in 2003.
Reverend Canon Lucy Winkett, Precentor of St Paul’ Cathedral said:
"I am delighted to have been appointed as the new Rector for the parish of St James Piccadilly. It encompasses a vibrant and varied area of London and the worshipping community has a strong tradition of challenging theological reflection and social engagement which I am looking forward to joining.
"As I leave St Paul’s Cathedral after nearly 13 years, I am aware of how much I owe to the people with whom I have worked and worshipped who have been such an inspiration to me over a long time.”
The Bishop of London, Dr Richard Chartres said;
"Lucy Winkett is among the most talented priests in her generation in the Church of England. I am delighted that after such a fruitful ministry at St Paul's Cathedral. She will be moving to Piccadilly to work with a gifted and diverse congregation.”
St James’s Piccadilly is a Wren-built church in the heart of the West End.
