Right Reverend Michael ColcloughThe Right Reverend Michael Colclough - Canon Pastor

The Right Reverend Michael Colclough is Canon Pastor of St Paul's Cathedral, with the brief of pastoral care for staff, visitors and worshippers.

Michael Colclough has served as a Priest, Area Dean, Archdeacon and Bishop in the Diocese of London. He trained for the priesthood at Leeds University and Cuddesdon College, Oxford, and was ordained at Lichfield Cathedral in 1971, serving his first curacy at St Weburgh's, Burslem.

In 1975, he moved to the Diocese of London and was Curate of St Mary, South Ruislip, before being made Priest-in-Charge of St Anselm, Hayes. Following his appointments as Area Dean of Hillingdon and Team Rector of Uxbridge, he became Archdeacon of Northolt in 1992. In 1994 he was appointed Archdeacon at London House and PA to the Bishop of London and in 1995 he became a Deputy Priest in Ordinary to Her Majesty the Queen. He was consecrated Bishop of Kensington on 24 September 1996 at St Paul's Cathedral. Within the Diocese he chairs ALMA, the diocesan link with the Church in Angola and Mozambique.

The Reverend Mark Oakley - Treasurer
The Reverend Mark Oakley is Treasurer of St Paul's and has special responsibility for the "treasures” of the cathedral – the fabric and collections of St Paul’s. He is also responsible for the development of the cathedral’s visual arts programme.

Canon Oakley was born in Shrewsbury in 1968 and was educated in London and Oxford. He was ordained at St Paul’s in 1993 and served his first appointment as Curate of St John’s Wood Church (1993-6). He was then asked to become the Chaplain to the Bishop of London (1996-2000) and was later appointed Rector of St Paul’s, Covent Garden, known as "the Actors’ church” (2000-5). He was also Chaplain at RADA from 2003 to 2005. He was subsequently invited to take up appointment as Archdeacon of Germany and Northern Europe, based in Copenhagen. Canon Oakley returned to London in 2008 and served at Grosvenor Chapel, Mayfair, before being appointed to St Paul’s. He is also a Deputy Priest in Ordinary to HM the Queen (1996-). He is the author of The Collage of God (2001) as well as various anthologies, articles and reviews, usually in the areas of faith, poetry and literature.

The Reverend Michael Hampel - Precentor
As Precentor, Canon Hampel has responsibility for music and liturgy at the cathedral.

Canon Hampel was educated at Stratford-upon-Avon, Durham, and Cambridge, and was ordained in Durham Cathedral in 1993 to serve as Assistant Curate of Whitworth with St Paul, Spennymoor.

He was then appointed Minor Canon, Precentor and Sacrist of Durham Cathedral until 2002 when he became Senior Tutor of St Chad's College in the University of Durham. Michael was appointed Residentiary Canon and Precentor of St Edmundsbury Cathedral in 2004, becoming also Sub-Dean in 2008 and Acting Dean in 2009. He has acted and directed in amateur theatre most of his life; in the North East, he had a long association with the Air Training Corps; and, more recently, was Vice-Chair of Governors of King Edward VI Upper School in Bury St Edmunds.

 

Gavin Ralston - Lay Canon (Finance)
As Lay Canon (Finance) Gavin Ralston holds particular responsibility for finance at St Paul's Cathedral. He is Global Head of Product and leading international asset manager at Schroder Investment Management. He holds the role of Lay Canon in addition to his position at Schroders.

He has had a long career in asset management in the City of London. As Global Head of Product and Chairman, Europe and Middle East at Schroder Investment Management he has responsibility for managing the firm’s product offering across equity, fixed income and multi-asset. He has a degree from University College, Oxford and is a member of the Investment Funds Committee of the Investment Management Association. Gavin Ralston also serves as a Churchwarden at St Lawrence Jewry-next Guildhall and as trustee of an endowment fund established by University College, Oxford.


Peter McCullough - Lay Canon (History)

As Lay Canon (History) Peter has special responsibility for input on historical matters. This includes the Interpretation Project – a long term project concerned with bringing St Paul’s to life for all its visitors.

Peter McCullough is a leading expert and widely published writer on the religious history of early modern England. He is also General Editor of The Oxford Edition of the Sermons of John Donne. This 16-volume edition, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, reassesses the greatest prose works of St Paul’s Cathedral’s most famous Dean. Peter McCullough is currently writing a new biography of Lancelot Andrewes for Oxford University Press. He has also published on religion and the early modern book trade that was centred in St Paul's Churchyard.


Lucrezia Walker - Lay Canon (Visual Arts)

Lucrezia Walker is Lay Canon with Portfolio to the Visual Arts. She was was installed in November 2009 and is committed to developing the St Paul's Cathedral Arts Programme.

She studied art history at the University of East Anglia, and has an MA in Victorian studies. She taught at Rome University, was galleries correspondent for the Tablet, and lectures and write on artists and art history.
