Forthcoming programme: Seeking Truth: Science, Mystery and Human Identity
A common perception today is that science and religion are incompatible. Is this really the case? Can we truly understand the mysteries of the universe, the world and ourselves without a constructive dialogue between science and religion?
This series brings together scientists, philosophers and theologians to explore the ‘big questions’ that touch us all: how did the universe evolve, what is the place of humans within creation, how do our minds work and what do we mean by the human soul? Speakers include: Robert Winston, Steve Jones, John Polkinghorne and Alister McGrath.
The flagship events on the cathedral floor will be supported with a programme of study days, services, seminars and a retreat between September 2008 and January 2009.

About St Paul's Institute
For hundreds of years, people gathered at Paul’s Cross in the cathedral’s churchyard to debate the great issues of the day. Since 2002, thousands have gathered inside St Paul’s to join in debates on key issues we face today.
Our vision is to stimulate dialogue on contemporary issues within the church and also to bring a theological voice to wider current debate.
Recent themes include global poverty, climate change, globalisation, and contemporary childhood, with speakers including Gordon Brown, Jeffrey Sachs, Camila Batmanghelidjh, Michael Morpurgo, Rowan Williams, Kofi Annan, Shirley Williams and David Attenborough. Events are open to people of all faiths and none.
