Vidal Sassoon remembered at St Paul's
12 October 2012
A service to celebrate the life of Vidal Sassoon CBE, has been held at St Paul's.
More than a thousand people, including stars of the fashion and film world turned out to pay their respects to the London-born hairdresser, who died in May this year aged 84.
Those attending included Sir Michael Caine, Jeremy Irons and Mary Quant, whose bob haircut in the 1960s made Vidal Sassoon a household name.
The service included four addresses, by Lord Puttnam CBE, a childhood friend; Zaha Hadid, a close friend; Rabbi Julia Neuberger of the West London Synagogue; and Sassoon's son, Elan, who filled the congregation with both tears and laughter as he gave a moving account of his father's life and loves.
Hymns included Guide me, O thou great Redeemer; Dear Lord and Father of mankind; and Jerusalem.
