Service marks 70th Anniversary of WWII Evacuation

On 1st September, hundreds of former evacuees filled St Paul's Cathedral to mark the 70th anniversary of the start of the operation which saw 3.5 million children evacuated during the Second World War.

The Lord Mayor was in attendance, alongside a congregation of 2000 people including many former evacuees.

The service was held by the Evacuees Reunion Assocation (ERA). ERA aims to provide links, support and counselling for former evacuees. It also aims to educate the public about the biggest and most concentrated mass movement of people in Britain's history.
