Summer Family Activities 2011

12 July 2011

Summer Family Activities 2011

This summer, children are invited to dig out their safari hats and become intrepid explorers at St Paulís Cathedral in a series of faith-finding Explorer Workshops. Visitors can also go on an interactive guided tour led by cathedralís architect, Sir Christopher Wren.

Explorer Workshops Ė come on a unique and exciting faith-finding mission!

Explorer kits with binoculars, magnifying glasses and activity sheets will be provided as children and their parents are led through the amazing jungle that is St Paulís. They will discover hidden nooks and crannies, carvings and sculptures that other visitors may miss. The beauty, spiritual and worshipping life of the cathedral will also be brought to life. The session culminates with a mosaic-making workshop.

Faith-Finding Explorer Workshops take place from 2 August until 25 August (Tuesday to Thursday at 2pm.) Each session lasts 1 hour 45 mins and costs £4 per child (free admission for up to two accompanying adults.) Suitable for ages 5 to11. Advance booking is essential, email or call 0207246 8353.

Meet Sir Christopher Wren!

Families can also meet the architect of St Paulís, Sir Christopher Wren. These fun and interactive guided tours around the cathedral are led by a costumed actor playing Wren. He will tell them about his life and skills and then take them on a journey of discovery around his masterpiece.

Sir Christopher Wren Guided Tours take place from 22 August until 2 September (Monday to Friday at 11am and 1pm). Each session lasts for one hour and standard admission charges apply. No advance booking is necessary and visitors should enquire at the admission desks on the day of their visit. Suitable for all ages and particularly visitors with children aged 5 to teens.
