Who We Are

The Vision of the Cathedral Church of St Paul in London

  • St Paulís Cathedral seeks to enable people in all their diversity to encounter the transforming presence of God in Jesus Christ.
  • As a community of worshippers, staff and volunteers we work with care and imagination to be a centre for welcome, worship and learning which inspires successive generations to engage with the richness of the Christian faith and its heritage.
  • We aim to do this with confidence, compassion and creativity, promoting dignity and justice for everyone.
  • We work with the Bishop and Diocese of London and the wider church, as a spiritual focus for London, the nation and the world.
VISION & VALUES

Chapter
The Chapter makes up the governing body of St Paulís and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the Cathedral. The composition of the Chapter is a Dean, four Residentiary Canons with different responsibilities across the Cathedral, and three Lay Canons each with a different portfolio.

College of Minor Canons
The Minor Canons have particular areas of specialist responsibility (ceremonial, pastoral and musical) though much of their ministry is shared and overlaps in many respects. They are responsible for the singing of the choral services. As priests of the Cathedral, they share a full part in celebrating the Eucharist, preaching, officiating at marriages and baptisms, and providing pastoral care and support to staff and visitors alike.
