Join us under the Dome to hear our world-famous Grand Organ in the hands of some of the world's finest players with our 2026 Season of Celebrity Organ Recitals. This year's theme is 'Legacy of Legends'.

This year marks 40 years since the death of Maurice Duruflé, one of the most beloved composers of the French Organ Tradition. George Inscoe’s recital will spotlight Duruflé’s legacy and his compositions, small in number but universally popular for their rich, impressionistic and mystical sound. Despite the exotic nature of his compositions, Duruflé was an absolute perfectionist – something he was known and respected for as a teacher at the Paris Conservatoire, where he taught composition for 27 years. An entire generation of organists and composers of the late 20th century were nurtured by this very special mind.

George’s concert will focus on the more liturgical and mystical side of French 20th century composition, and many of the works are based on plainsong themes – something very close to Duruflé’s heart.

George Inscoe has been the Sub-Organist at St Paul’s Cathedral for just over a year. Interestingly, he has his own living link to the subject of his recital. While at the Royal Academy of Music, George studied under Susan Landale, who has lived and worked in Paris her whole life. She was studying at the Paris Conservatoire at the time Duruflé was teaching there, and knew him well.
