Celebrity Organ Recital by Thomas Trotter
Join award-winning organist Thomas Trotter as he performs a recital of works celebrating Marie-Claire Alain.
Join us under the Dome to hear our world-famous Grand Organ in the hands of some of the world's finest players with our 2026 Season of Celebrity Organ Recitals. This year's theme is 'Legacy of Legends'.
2026 would have seen the 100th birthday of Marie-Claire Alain. The most recorded organist in history, Alain died in 2013 with 260 recordings to her name – including the complete organ works of Bach three times! But she was also a celebrated teacher with a list of pupils that almost defies belief.
Among these is Thomas Trotter, one of the most celebrated organists of his generation and one of Alain’s most prized pupils. As a nod to his teacher’s legacy, Thomas’s recital will involve works that he studied with her, as well as those she recorded herself, including Bach, Widor, Mendelssohn and Duruflé.
Thomas Trotter has been at the forefront of the organ profession for many decades, having held the post of Birmingham City Organist for over 40 years. He has won numerous prizes and awards for his contributions to music, and his performing career has taken him all around the globe and to many of the world's most significant venues.
Tickets cost £15, or £12 for seniors, students and children.
