It is with great sadness that we have heard of the death of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh on Friday 9th April 2021. 

The Cathedral is open for Private Prayer on Friday 9th April from Midday to 3.30pm but capacity is severely limited owing to current Covid restrictions. A special Choral Evensong will be broadcast on Saturday 10th April at 5.00pm on BBC Radio 3. Owing to current restrictions there is no public attendance at this special Choral Evensong, and in order to facilitate this service the Cathedral will be closed on Saturday 10th April 2021.

 

Following the lifting of London’s Major Incident status, the Chapter of St Paul’s is pleased to announce that the Cathedral has reopened for public and private prayer. Service times and private prayer opening varies – please check the Cathedral calendar page for further information. This decision will be reviewed regularly as we closely monitor the situation, and we hope to reopen for sightseeing when it is safe to do so. This will be no earlier than 17th May 2021 as per government guidelines. 

At the heart of the life of St Paul’s Cathedral is the daily pattern of prayer and worship. This daily rhythm of prayer forms the framework of all that we do.

We begin and end the day with prayer. Then at each hour our doors are open we invite our visitors and pilgrims to join in the Lord’s Prayer, in their own language, as they pause. Music is integral to the worshipping and educational life of the Cathedral, with a number of our services sung by the Cathedral Choir or visiting choirs from around the world.
