Owing to the declaration of a Major Incident in London due to COVID-19, St Paul’s Cathedral will not be hosting the Diocesan Confirmations during the Easter Vigil this year. Instead, confirmations will be held in each of the Episcopal Areas. Please be in touch with your Area Bishop for more information. The Cathedral will host a Confirmation service on place on Saturday, 6 November 2021 at 5pm – more information on this will be published in due course.
More information regarding the Area confirmations can be found on the Diocese of London website here
Jesus said, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” [John 10. 10]
Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which those who have been baptised affirm for themselves their Christian faith, and at which, through prayer and the laying on of hands, the Church asks the Holy Spirit to empower them to live a life of committed discipleship.
Confirmation services are usually held at St Paul’s Cathedral twice a year – at the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday and on a Saturday in November. During these services those wishing to be confirmed who have not yet been baptised are also baptised, and we receive into the Church of England people confirmed in other Christian traditions.
Candidates for confirmation are prepared and presented by their parish clergy or educational chaplains.
If you are considering confirmation please contact your minister in the first instance. They will be happy to advise you on the next steps.
