Our lift is currently out of action and awaiting repair

We're working hard to get it back up and running as soon as possible, but at the moment, access to the Crypt and accessible toilet is only possible via steps. Visitors who need an accessible toilet can use the facilities located in nearby Paternoster Square.

We're recruiting an Electrician to join our Property team, supporting the maintenance and preservation of our iconic building.

About the Property team

Our Property team is responsible for the care, safety, and long term sustainability of the St Paul’s Cathedral estate, including the Cathedral itself, the School, Chapter House, nearby Amen Court and, when required, the Tillingham Estate in Essex.

The role

As our Electrician, you'll ensure electrical safety and compliance across these historic and operational spaces, enabling worship, visitor activities, learning and daily operational life to continue smoothly and safely.

In this vital role, you will:

  • ensure electrical systems across the estate comply with current regulations and safety standards
  • maintain accurate compliance documentation including Part P certification
  • respond to reactive maintenance needs and undertake preventative electrical maintenance
  • lead and deliver minor electrical projects, including ordering materials and coordinating trades
  • support ongoing planning for future electrical system renewal
  • maintain tools, parts, and equipment, ensuring correct storage and upkeep
  • work collaboratively with colleagues and external contractors, ensuring minimal disruption to Cathedral activities

Who we're looking for

We're looking for someone who has:

  • a City & Guilds 2382-22 – 18th Edition qualification
  • C&G 2391-52 Inspection and Testing qualification
  • experience in electrical installation, maintenance and project delivery
  • strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, can-do attitude
  • the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • experience using CAFM systems (for example, Vision Pro) but training will be provided if needed
  • good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively across a busy organisation
  • flexibility to support major services and events, including working at height and occasional overtime
  • appreciation of the unique needs of a historic and sacred building

The successful applicant will also be expected to share in our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

In return you’ll find we are a welcoming place to work and we each take responsibility for our part in the Cathedral’s work, looking after St Paul’s for the next generation.

  • Our annual holiday allowance is 25 days plus bank holidays
  • Our pension scheme allows for up to 7.5% employer contribution
  • And as you might expect we have life assurance of four times basic salary and an employee assistance programme

We are committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce that represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of United Kingdom Minority Ethnic / Global Majority Heritage, women, and disabled people are currently under-represented in our workforce, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase our representation.

The closing date for applications is 11.59 pm, Sunday 4th January 2026.

Interviews and assessments will take place on the 22nd January 2026.
