Professor Carl Tighe, born in Handsworth Birmingham and taught creative writing at the University of Derby. In 2000 he founded the first undergraduate degree in creative writing in the UK. He is survived by 6 siblings.

This is your last awfully big adventure, faced with the same courage and curiosity with which you stepped onto planes and boats and trains. We are so terribly sad you are not coming home here to your paintings and books.

My Mum was one of the most courageous people I've ever known. She was the wife of Wilf; a proud Mother to five children; grandmother of six and great grandmother to one. She feared nothing and faced everything. God bless
