Bach's St John Passion
Join us for an evening of wonderful music, filled with drama and meditation, in the spectacular setting of our beautiful Cathedral.
First performed in Leipzig in 1724, Johann Sebastian Bach’s St John Passion is a powerful, dramatic tour de force which takes the audience through the events of the crucifixion of Jesus.
Soloists, chorus and orchestra work together to depict the pain of Jesus, the bewilderment of the disciples and the anger of the crowd as well as helping the audience to be part of the drama with the inclusion of German traditional hymns.
The Cathedral Choir, Cathedral Chorus, soloists and St Paul's Players present the St John Passion in this 300th anniversary year of the first performance. Join us for an evening of wonderful music, filled with drama and meditation, in the spectacular setting of our beautiful Cathedral.
This year, the concert is free to attend (with a ticket), but we welcome donations, which can be added to your ticket at checkout.
