Bishops are ordained to be shepherds of Christ’s flock and guardians of the faith of the apostles, proclaiming the gospel of God’s kingdom and leading his people in mission.
The particular role of a bishop – while remaining a deacon and priest – is to proclaim and guard the faith, to preside at the sacraments, to lead the Church’s prayer and to hand on its ministry. In this special service which includes Holy Communion, the new Bishop of Crediton will be consecrated.
