Power can be understood positively; as divine breath, as creative and life giving. It can also be negative and harmful when it is used to control another person or group.
Join Selina Stone as she explores the possibilities for spiritually reimagining power in order to develop ties of love and solidarity, especially with those whose power is overridden.
Dr Selina Stone is Lecturer in Theology and Ethics at the School of Divinity, University of Edinburgh. Her research interests include Christian doctrine, womanist theology and ethics, power, justice and wellbeing. She is author of several books including her latest, A Heavy Yoke: Theology, Power and Abuse in the Church (SCM Press, 2025), and is host of the Sunday School for Misfits podcast.
The event is free, but if you are able to make a donation to the continuing learning programme at St Paul’s Cathedral when you register for the event we would be very grateful.
