Hamish Wagstaff appointed as new Organ Scholar

We are delighted to announce our newest Organ Scholar, Hamish Wagstaff.

Organ Scholars at St Paul’s join us for a year to develop their skills, learn more about being a cathedral organist and contribute to our world-class music by playing for services, assisting in the education of the Choristers and Probationers, and performing as a recitalist several times throughout the year.

Hamish joins us from St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle. A prizewinning graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, he completed postgraduate study under David Titterington, graduating with Distinction and the coveted DipRAM. Alongside his studies, he served as Organ Scholar of All Saints, Margaret Street, and became a prizewinning Fellow of the Royal College of Organists. Prior to emigrating to the UK in 2022, Hamish completed undergraduate studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He maintains an active schedule as a recitalist, with recent appearances at Westminster Abbey and St Alban's Cathedral as part of the International Organ Festival.

Speaking about his appointment, Hamish shared:

"I am excited to be joining the Music Department of St Paul's Cathedral at such a significant juncture in its history. To not only be part of the team making music in such a beautiful place, but but to also support the chorister programme and new Girls' Choir, will be a joy and a privilege. I cannot wait to work alongside, and indeed learn from, such esteemed musical colleagues."

We look forward to welcoming Hamish into our Music team in September. To find out more about music at St Paul’s, please click here.
