2025 sees the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. During the war – and Blitz especially – St Paul’s became a symbol of hope, strength and resilience.

Our VE Day Evensong on 8th May will remember this historic anniversary, marking the end of the war in Europe. We will remember all those who served, fought and died in the armed services, and Londoners who lost their lives during the Blitz, and throughout the war.

It will also echo the services of thanksgiving held throughout VE Day in 1945, attended by thousands, as well as a Service of Thanksgiving on 13th May 1945, which was attended by members of the Royal Family, ministers, politicians and foreign dignitaries.
