Responding to COVID-19

Responding to COVID-19

We hold the ‘Good to Go’ industry standard, meaning we are following official COVID guidance and keeping our visitors safe.

Last updated 23rd May 2022

We want everyone to feel safe during their visit to St Paul’s, whether you are enjoying a visit for sightseeing or to attend one of our services throughout the day. We have been awarded the ‘Good to Go’ industry standard by Visit England, showing that we are following COVID-19 reopening guidance from the Government and Public Health England.

To help keep everyone safe, we ask that you do not visit the Cathedral if you are feeling unwell or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.

Prevention measures

Before you arrive

Travel

If you are planning to use Transport for London to travel to and from the Cathedral, the wearing of face coverings is recommended, but no longer mandatory. Please visit the TfL website for further information. We recommend checking individual transport operators for any guidelines they may have in place.

Party size

There are currently no limits on party sizes.

At the door

Face coverings

The wearing of face coverings is not mandatory. However, we welcome and encourage worshippers, visitors, staff and volunteers to continue to wear masks if they prefer, and encourage everyone to be mindful and respectful of the choices of others.

NHS app

Visitors are welcome to use the NHS COVID-19 app on their phone or device to check-in at the Cathedral if they wish to. However, checking in is no longer mandatory.

Inside the Cathedral

One-way system

There is no longer a one-way system in place to move around the Cathedral. However, there is two-way access to and from the Stone Gallery and a one-way system to and from the Golden Gallery.

Hygiene

Our staff regularly clean all areas to keep the Cathedral clean and safe for everyone. We also have hand sanitiser stations on entry to the Cathedral, and everyone is very welcome to use their own hand sanitiser, too.

Social distancing

Whilst social distancing measures are no longer in place, we ask that all worshippers and visitors please be respectful of those who may wish to maintain a physical distance from others.

Guided tours with Cathedral Floor Guides

There are no limits on group sizes for our guided tours, but our Guides may choose to split larger groups should they wish. More information about the different tours on offer can be found on our guided tours page. Our guides may be wearing a visor when delivering a tour.
