Day meets night over the City of London - stunning new photography

The sun setting over the City of London provides the subject for a breathtaking new photograph take from the top of St Paul's dome.

The GigaPixel image is the latest panoramic picture taken from St Paul's by specialist photographer Henry Stuart.

Henry, who previously shot the same view at daybreak as well as one inside the Cathedral, took this new picture in late October, beginning his shoot at 4.30pm and finishing an hour later, after the sun had fully set.

Like the previous image, it shows a level of detail which allows the user to zoom much further in to each part of the image than can be seen by the human eye.

Landmarks which can be seen include the Olympic Stadium, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and Wembley Stadium.
