Our Learning Department has been selected as a finalist in this year’s School Travel Awards. The prestigious annual awards recognise organisations that offer inspiring school trips, and celebrates learning outside the classroom.

Head of Learning at St Paul’s Cathedral, Charlie Rowbotham, said:

“It’s an absolute privilege to be chosen as a finalist for the Schools Travel Awards. St Paul’s Cathedral has a wealth of learning opportunities, and we are honoured to have so many schools visit each year. Our experienced Learning team deserve this recognition for all the excellent work they do leading our fully inclusive, cross-curricular guided visits.

"Our Cathedral has a rich and diverse history spanning 1400 years. There is something to discover and explore here for everyone. It is our honour to introduce the unique and famous history of St Paul’s to the next generation.”

Our Learning Department offers a range of curriculum and exam-linked activities for students of all ages, from hands-on history classes that explore what Cathedral life was like during the Second World War, to thought-provoking sessions that ask big questions about ethics and religion. This offer includes themed learning sessions, workshops, self-guided trails, and virtual visits.

The award is organised by the School Travel Organiser magazine, and is a special initiative that celebrates learning outside the classroom, and raises the profile and importance of school visits. Voting is open now and is set to close on the 31st July.

The selection as a finalist follows being awarded the Sandford Award for Heritage Education in 2023, and is testament to the stellar work done by our Learning team, with 100% of all teachers who visited in 2024-25 saying that they would recommend a visit.
