Carpentry Apprentice (Level 2)

Are you passionate about heritage, history, and hands-on craftsmanship? We’re offering a unique opportunity to learn the craft of carpentry through a structured apprenticeship programme. Working alongside skilled professionals and attending off site training at the Building Crafts College, you will contribute to the care and conservation of the Cathedral while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.About the apprenticeshipThis is a Level 2 apprenticeship lasting 24 monthsTraining includes both on-site experience and college -based learning with the Building Crafts CollegeYou will be supported by a mentor and assessed through practical and written workUpon successful completion of Level 2, there may be an opportunity to further extend the apprenticeship progressing to a Level 3What we are looking forThe successful candidate will:have the passion to learn the craft of carpentrya willingness to attend college and obtain qualificationsable to work at heights with relevant safety equipment where appropriatebe flexible in attitude and willing to undertake a variety of maintenance tasks.The successful applicant will also be expected to share in St Paul’s Cathedral’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.In return you’ll find we are a welcoming place to work and we each take responsibility for our part in the Cathedral’s work, looking after St Paul’s for the next generation. Our holiday allowance is 25 days plus bank holidays;Our pension scheme allows for up to 7.5% employer contribution;And as you might expect we have life assurance of four times basic salary and an employee assistance programme.We are an inclusive employer and welcome candidates from all backgrounds. The closing date for applications is 6th July 2025 at 11.59 pm. The Dean of St Paul’s announces retirement in 2022

The Dean of St Paul’s, the Very Revd Dr David Ison, has announced his intention to retire in September 2022.
Dr David Ison will be 68, and will have served at the Cathedral for ten years. The Dean leads the Cathedral assisted by the Residentiary and Lay Canons, enabling Chapter to implement the agreed vision for St Paul's. Recruitment for the next Dean of St Paul’s will begin later this year.

Chaperone to the Choristers

The Chaperone will uphold the Cathedral’s and School’s safeguarding policies by supervising children appropriately, promoting a safe and respectful environment, and serving as a point of contact for any concerns. This role plays a vital part in supporting the Choir’s musical mission while prioritising the protection and welfare of its youngest members.The Chaperone will; attend all rehearsals in the Choir Practice Room, moving between activities taking place in the various rooms, when necessary, being available 10 minutes before and after the rehearsal;accompany the Choristers and the Probationers on their journey from the Cathedral to the School after rehearsals (with Music Department staff);attend one Evensong service per week at which the Choristers are singing;be available to support the Choristers undertaking duties at times of national importance. These can occur unexpectedly and sometimes during the school holidays;ensure that Choristers are properly dressed and tidy prior to services;attend one meal per week in School – breakfast/dinner/Sunday lunch.The successful candidate will have;previous experience of working with children aged 7 to 13;have experience and knowledge of safeguarding requirements and procedures and will be expected to share in St Paul’s Cathedral’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults;have clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) at the Enhanced level (with Barred Lists).St Paul’s Cathedral is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children, young people, and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff, volunteers, and those working on our behalf to share this commitment.We are also committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce that represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of United Kingdom Minority Ethnic / Global Majority Heritage, women, and disabled people are currently under-represented in our workforce, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase our representation.  We are seeking an experienced Chaperone to support the safety and welfare of its choristers while they are engaged in Cathedral activities.

Senior Individual Giving and Membership Manager

Working closely with the Director of Development and the wider Development and Cathedral team, you will lead on all individual and regular giving, membership programmes and legacy fundraising across the Cathedral in order to significantly increase these income streams to secure more diverse and sustainable income for St Paul’s Cathedral in preparation for a transformational Development Campaign from 2025.

You will be responsible for the development and implementation of a individual and regular giving strategy, building an organisational-wide supporter journey programme driven by data and insight, deepening relationships with our members, visitors and supporters through excellent stewardship and customer service to drive a significant increase in income and engagement.

The successful candidate will have:Experience of working in a Direct Marketing role Experience of raising income from individualsExperience of running membership schemesExperience of running fundraising appeals Experience of audience insight and segmentation principles and use of data and CRM systems to develop supporter journeys that increase income and engagementDemonstrable track record in developing and delivering supporter/customer strategiesThe successful applicant will also be expected to share in St Paul’s Cathedral’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
