Worship Support Assistant

As part of the team working alongside the Virgers, you’ll play an active role in delivering exceptional worship experiences. You’ll ensure services run flawlessly, spaces are inviting and well presented, and clergy and Virgers have the support they need. From setting up and coordinating movement to managing lighting and sound systems, you’ll help create an atmosphere that is both welcoming and inspiring for worshippers and guests alike. What a typical day might look like Preparing worship spaces for daily services (including Sundays), Eucharists and major festivals. Operating sound and lighting systems during services - we'll provide all the training needed for this.Assisting with laundry, pressing and presentation of robes and vestments. Offering a warm welcome to worshippers, visitors and guests.Providing administrative support to the Liturgical team. Supporting facilities and ensuring safety standards are maintained.  Who we're looking forSomeone with experience in a fast paced operational setting (for example, events, hospitality, building operations, theatre).Excellent customer service skillsA great communicator who enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team.Confident in using Microsoft Office. Able to carry out tasks that involve lifting, carrying, using stairs and occasional work at height.Careful attention to detail when maintaining spaces and presenting items.Ability to stay calm and focused under pressure. Someone who is happy to work on occasional weekends, and shifts of varying lengths on a rota basis, within the hours of 8am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday, and Sunday with a 7.30am start.You'll share in our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. Working for usIn return you’ll find we're a welcoming place to work and we each take responsibility for our part in the Cathedral’s work, looking after St Paul’s for the next generation. Our annual holiday allowance is 33 days inclusive of bank holidays. Our pension scheme allows for up to 7.5% employer contribution We have life assurance of four times basic salary and an employee assistance programme.We're committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce that represents our context and wider community. The Very Reverend Andrew Tremlett was installed as Dean of St Paul’s by the Bishop of London, the Right Reverend and Right Honourable Dame Sarah Mullally during Choral Evensong at 3 pm on Sunday 25th September. Andrew succeeds the Very Reverend Dr David Ison who has retired after ten years’ service to St Paul’s.
