Weekend Cleaner

We are looking for a new recruit to join our friendly cleaning team, working in the Cathedral and its associated buildings. This is a fantastic opportunity to work behind the scenes of one of the most iconic buildings in the world, keeping it safe and clean for all its visitors, staff and volunteers.The role includes cleaning the steps leading up to the famous frontage of the Cathedral, the vast and beautiful Cathedral floor, the largest crypt in Europe, the hidden corridors of the Triforium, the breathtaking galleries, plus staff offices and communal areas. To thrive in this role, you’ll need to be comfortable with the everyday manual work, including the 500+ stairs to the Galleries. We’d also love someone with a positive approach to work, who is reliable and who enjoys working as part of a team. The successful applicant will also be expected to share in our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.In return you’ll find we are a welcoming place to work and we each take responsibility for our part in the Cathedral’s work, looking after St Paul’s for the next generation. Our FTE holiday allowance is 25 days plus bank holidaysOur pension scheme allows for up to 7.5% employer contributionAnd as you might expect we have life assurance of four times basic salary and an employee assistance programme.The closing date for applications is Sunday 5th October at 11.59pm.Interviews will be held Tuesday 14th October 2025. Organ Scholar 2026/27

The role of Organ Scholar will work alongside leading musicians in our Music department, and will be expected to play a full part in the musical life of St Paul's. The main duties are to accompany the Cathedral Choir at Evensong at least once a week, provide pre-service music before some services, and assist in the training of probationary and other Choristers.This scholarship presents an exciting opportunity for a postgraduate, or exceptional final year undergraduate student, who wishes to become an outstanding performer on the organ, both as soloist and accompanist. The successful candidate will:continue the development of their musical expertise through practice, performance and observation;receive advice and support in choir training and conducting, liturgical accompaniment, solo playing and improvisation;have the opportunity to conduct in the Cathedral, which includes working with the fully professional ensemble of Vicars Choral as well as the Choristers and the professional mixed voice Cathedral Consort;become familiar with our musical and liturgical life, together with the daily music routines, and will have the opportunity to assist with the planning for liturgies and special services; anddevelop teamworking and pastoral skills through interaction with colleagues across St Paul's.Main responsibilitiesAccompany the Cathedral Choir at Evensong at least once a week.Play for some “non-choral” services - including the 5.30pm services on a Sunday.Provide 25 minutes of music before Sunday Evensong, or before the morning services, as a prelude to the liturgies.Provide voluntaries after some services as required.Perform 3 recitals in the Sunday organ recital series.Play for visiting choirs on some weekdays and on some Sundays when the Cathedral Choir is on holiday (in rotation with the other organists).Greet visiting organists and assist them when required.Assist the other Cathedral organists at the console for services.Assist in the training of probationary and other Choristers.Play for St Paul's Cathedral School assemblies (once a week during term time).Share in the administrative workload of the Music department, including typesetting of manuscripts, copying of hymn tune booklets, assisting with the administration for visiting choirs, proofreading and attendance at the weekly Music department meeting.Act as Assistant Choir Librarian - approximately three hours a week.The ideal candidateWe're committed to finding an Organ Scholar who:wishes to become an exceptional performer on the organ, both as soloist and accompanist;has a lively interest in and proven experience of working within the English choral tradition;has an awareness of the rich liturgical and musical heritage of the Church of England;is a graduate, or will be a graduate by September 2026. Exceptional final year undergraduate students may be considered;displays an enterprising and imaginative approach to personal musical development;is able to work calmly, particularly when performing at high profile, pressured occasions;is able to work as part of a close-knit team in the Music department, and also engage with the wider Cathedral community; andhas experience and knowledge of safeguarding requirements and procedures.The closing date for applications is 11.59pm, Sunday 19th October 2025, and auditions and interviews will take place on the morning of the 4th November 2025.For further information please contact our Organist, James Orford. Music Department Operations Officer

This role is a chance to play an important part in our musical life. As part of our Music department, you’ll help ensure the smooth running of daily choral worship and support the Director of Music in delivering our musical programme. You’ll work closely with colleagues across St Paul's, and with external partners, keeping things organised and coordinated behind the scenes. We're looking for someone who shares our commitment to safeguarding, collaboration, and delivering the very best service.As part of the team, you will be responsible for:coordinate Music department schedules, resources, and communications to ensure services run smoothly;liaise with the Virgers, Liturgy, and Events teams to align musical planning with Cathedral operations;provide diary management and scheduling support to the Director of Music;manage general and specific email correspondence for the Music department;maintain departmental records, databases, and filing systems;provide administrative support for the coordination of special services, concerts, recordings, and external events involving Cathedral musicians including celebrity organ recitals;collate and submit monthly departmental data to payroll for processing including additional payments for special services, the payment of deputy singers etc.We're looking for someone with:extensive experience in high-level administration;diary management experience - managing complex schedules and resolving competing priorities with confidence and tact;excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken;experience in providing administrative support for financial planning and budget monitoring, including invoice processing and liaison with finance teams;ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and make decisions;proficiency in Microsoft Office.Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.The successful applicant will also be expected to share in our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.In return you’ll find we're a welcoming place to work and we each take responsibility for our part in the Cathedral’s work, looking after St Paul’s for the next generation. Our annual holiday allowance is 25 days plus bank holidaysOur pension scheme allows for up to 7.5% employer contributionAnd as you might expect we have life assurance of four times basic salary and an employee assistance programmeWe are committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce that represents our context and wider community.
