Safeguarding training

Our Safeguarding training provides learners with an awareness of safeguarding, and St Paul’s Cathedral’s approach to managing safeguarding.

All volunteers are required to complete and maintain Safeguarding Basic Awareness training. To remain an active volunteer at St Paul's Cathedral, you will need to renew your training every 3 years; completing the highest level of training only.

How we ask you to complete this training, depends on whether you are currently going through our recruitment process or are in a current active role with us.

Renewing your training?

All volunteers need to complete the Basic Awareness training, in one of our 1.5 hour face to face sessions - either in person or virtually via Teams.  These sessions are bookable through your Assemble account (you only need to book one session).  Once you have logged in, to find the booking page, go to the menu on the left-hand side, hover over activities and select Events.

If you are in a role requiring a DBS check or classed as a Volunteer Lead you will also need to complete Foundation level training.

If you have completed the Church of England's Safeguarding training with another church, we can accept the certificate for this training, however you will also need to review our Safeguarding in practice webpage and complete the short test.  It is only at this point can we mark your training as up to date.

Further information:

Our in person/virtual Safeguarding Basic Awareness training session will be 1.5 hours. Our Safeguarding Foundation training session will be 1.5 hours.

For those that are required to complete both the Basic Awareness and Foundation training, you can book to attend both sessions on the same day.  The training sessions combined will total 3 hours.

If you have problems logging into Assemble or booking your place, please email our volunteering team (volunteering@stpaulscathedral.org.uk) who will be able to help.
