Latest News from the Music department

Following the appointment of Simon Johnson as Master of Music at Westminster Cathedral, William Fox has assumed the position of Acting Organist and Assistant Director of Music, pending the appointment of a new Organist and Assistant Director of Music.

For this interim period, we are delighted that Martin Ford will serve as Acting Sub Organist. Martin is Organist & Director of Music at The Guards’ Chapel and accompanist to the Trinity Boys Choir. He was formerly Assistant Organist at Westminster Abbey and at St Martin-in-the-Fields.

Ben Collyer has been appointed as our new William & Irene Miller Organ Scholar. Ben has just graduated with a degree in Music from Christ Church, Oxford, where he was Organ Scholar at Christ Church Cathedral.

We welcome Samuel Jenkins as our new Tenor Vicar Choral. Sam replaces Andrew Yeats who retired at Christmas 2020 after many years of devoted service.

Daily Evensong at 5pm sung by the Cathedral Choir resumed on Thursday 2nd September alongside three sung services every Sunday. The Choristers returned on Friday 9th September, and the day before they sang in a televised performance of Bach’s St Matthew Passion from the BBC Proms with Arcangelo.
