Manchester and Portsmouth Cathedrals to celebrate leading clergy charity at St Paul's
29 April 2015
The choirs of Manchester and Portsmouth Cathedrals will join that of St Paul's at the annual service to help and celebrate a charity which supports members of the clergy and their families.
The 361st Sons of the Clergy service will be held at 5pm on Tuesday 12 May, and will see The Lord Mayor and Bishop of London, alongside those associated with the Church gather as they have done since a group of city gentlemen held a service in Old St Paul's and took a collection for destitute clergy in 1655.
Free tickets available by emailing enquiries@clergycharities.org.uk |
Please state how many tickets are required and give a postal address. |
The event, held each year at St Paul's, now provides a unique occasion for Church and City to come together to give thanks for the work of the Charity.
And as is now traditional, the choir of St Paul's will be joined by two other cathedral choirs - this year Manchester and Portsmouth - to provide the music for the Festival.
Each choir will perform an individual anthem and then the combined choirs will sing William Walton's Coronation Te Deum and Peter Philips' Ascendit Deus.
The Dean of York, the Very Reverend Vivienne Faull, will preach.
All people are welcome to attend.
