New Director of Visitor Engagement Appointed at St Paul's

St Paul's is pleased to announce that Sandra Lynes Timbrell has been appointed as the Cathedral's next Director of Visitor Engagement. This is a new role that brings together Visitor Experience, Commercial Services, Security, Sales and Ticketing, Marketing and Audience Development and is designed to provide a focus on welcome for all visitors to the Cathedral.

Sandra comes to St Paul's from Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, where she has been the Director of Visitor Experience for the past three years. There she has worked with over one hundred staff and 600 volunteers to deliver an excellent visitor experience and increase commercial income, whilst also leading the security function. Prior to that, Sandra was responsible for welcoming visitors and increasing visitor numbers at the Museum of London, English Heritage and other heritage properties. Across these roles, Sandra has created organisational wide training programmes, developed relationships with the visitor facing organisations that we work with today and led and supported capital building projects.

Of her appointment, Sandra has said “I am thrilled to be joining the team at St Paul's Cathedral at this exciting time. The role of Director of Visitor Engagement combines my passion for historic buildings with inspiring a diverse range of audiences to engage in the work of this iconic site and ensure its sustainability and relevance for future generations.

I have spent a wonderful six years at Shakespeare's Globe; and hugely proud of all that we have achieved. I wish every success to the team as they move forward.”

Sandra will begin her role at the Cathedral in April 2020.
