Red buckets replace collection plates this Red Nose Day

The Dean of St Paul's will swap his cassock for a red nose on Friday as Cathedral staff do their bit for Comic Relief.

To mark Red Nose Day, this Friday (15 March), the Very Reverend David Ison will join other members of the Cathedral community on the west steps to collect money for the biennial event, which has raised more than £600m for good causes since 1985.

As well as the collection buckets outside, café, restaurant and shop staff in the crypt will also be doing their bit for the worthy cause.

In the café, if you buy a red velvet whoopie pie, 20p will be donated to Comic Relief, and if you find a red nose sticker under your cake, you will be entered into a prize draw to win a lunch for four people in the Even Keel Café at Cutty Sark and the chance to explore the famous clipper ship in Greenwich.

On top of the money collected, the Chapter of St Paul's will make a donation of £1,000 to Comic Relief.
