A rare European excursion has seen the St Paul's Cathedral Choir perform a concert at a music festival in
Switzerland.
On Tuesday 8 July the Choir left St Paul's for just one day and night to perform at the Fribourg Festival of Sacred Music.
An exciting and unusual opportunity, the concert's repertoire contrasted a first half centred on Byrd's Mass for four voices, with a second half of
searing 20th century masterpieces by Tippett, Holst and Poulenc.
The twenty Choristers and twelve Vicars Choral were in fine voice and received a warm welcome from their Swiss hosts.
The concert provided a fitting climax to a memorable year for the choir before their summer break. The concert can still be heard on the
website of the Swiss Radio station that broadcast it live.
