Three new bishops consecrated at St Paul's

Three new bishops have officially taken office having been ordained and consecrated by the Archbishop of Canterbury at a service in St Paul's.

The Reverend Canon David Court, The Venerable Peter Hill and The Venerable Roger Morris all became Right Reverend at the service of Eucharist on Friday 25 July.

David Court, Vicar of St Peter and St Paul in Cromer is now Bishop of Grimsby in the Diocese of Lincoln.

Peter Hill, Archdeacon of Nottingham is now Bishop of Barking in the Diocese of Chelmsford

Roger Morris, Archdeacon of Worcester is now Bishop of Colchester, also in the Diocese of Chelmsford.

In ordaining the three new bishops, The Most Reverend Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, said: "Bishops are called to serve and care for the flock of Christ. Mindful of the Good Shepherd, who laid down his life for his sheep, they are to love and pray for those committed to their charge, knowing their people and being known by them. As principal ministers of word and sacrament, stewards of the mysteries of God, they are to preside at the Lord’s table and to lead the offering of prayer and praise. They are to feed God’s pilgrim people, and so build up the Body of Christ."
