Cathedral Council Election 2017 Results
10 August 2017
Following the election process which took place from Monday 10th July to Thursday 10th August, we are pleased to announce that Mr Christopher Allen and Mr Simon Holden have been elected as Community Representatives to the Cathedral Council for the period 2017-21.
The Cathedral Council has 17 members appointed by the Chapter of St Paul's Cathedral and Bishop of London, and three elected by the Cathedral Community to represent the interests of the Community. The role of the Council is to further and support the work of the Cathedral, spiritual, pastoral, evangelistic, missionary, social and ecumenical, reviewing and advising upon the direction and oversight of that work by Chapter. It meets usually three times a year, and discusses matters of concern to the Chapter and its own members, as well as receiving the budget and the annual report and accounts.
Christopher Allen became a Wandsman in July 2005, a Working Friend and a year later, a guide. Christopher is currently the Assistant Secretary to the Wandsmen, the Team Leader of the Friday Team and a Course Tutor on the guide training course.
Simon Holden has been a member of the Cathedral Community since 1994 as a regular worshipper, Cathedral Friend, Music Patron and, more recently, as a Lay Communion Assistant. Beyond the Cathedral, Simon works as a Urologist and departmental Clinical Lead at Whipps Cross Hospital.
Thank you to those who participated in the election, and the four applicants who kindly stood as candidates. Congratulations to the elected candidates in their new roles as Community Representatives.
