St Paul's Cathedral welcomes five new Prebendaries
06 November 2020
Five members of Diocese of London clergy have been announced as Prebendaries of St Paul’s Cathedral by The Bishop of London, The Rt Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally DBE, in recognition of their valuable ministry in the Diocese of London.
The Revd Dr Olubunmi Fagbemi, Vicar of Holy Trinity Tottenham; The Ven Dr Amatu Christian-Iwuagwu, Vicar of St Mary Harmondsworth; The Revd Sandra McCalla, Vicar of St Leonard Heston; The Revd Wilson Gill, Vicar of Emmanuel Southall; and The Revd Jane Hodges, Team Rector of All Saints Poplar, have been awarded the positions.
Prebendaries are appointed by the Bishop after consultation with the Dean of St Paul’s in recognition of their work in the Diocese. As part of the roles in the Greater Chapter of St Paul’s, they are each given their own stall in the quire, are invited to preach once a year and are given a portion of the Psalms to recite each day. They also play a valuable role in maintaining the Cathedral’s close links with the parishes of the London Diocese.
The Bishop of London, The Rt Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally, said:
“It is an honour and a privilege to announce these five talented clergy members as Prebendaries of St Paul’s Cathedral, in recognition of their distinguished ministries in the Diocese of London. I have no doubt that St Paul’s will benefit from their wisdom and support in the years to come.”
The new Prebendaries will be installed at St Paul’s in due course.
