The Power of Poetry on National Poetry Day

A story worth sharing - with the Revd Canon Mark Oakley

Listen to the Revd Canon Mark Oakley discuss how he uses poems to invite everyone to explore the power of poetry on a new broadcast.

Canon Mark gave a special interview to mark to mark National Poetry Day on 6 October, where people are encouraged to enjoy, discover and share a poem,

In the interview, broadcast by the Church of England, Canon Mark said: "I think the Church needs a bit more poetry in it today.' He explains why it is important for people of faith to engage with poetry, and also reads his favourite RS Thomas poem, Raptor, which "explores a fresh image for God."

Canon Mark will be talking abut his new book The Splash of Words at St Paul's on Tuesday 8 November at 6.30pm. Find out more about the event and book your free ticket here.
